Dr. Stewart is the President of Stewart Consulting, an adjunct Senior Associate Clinical
Professor at Daemen University, the former President of Gaymar Industries Inc., and the former VP of Clinical Affairs for Stryker’s Medical Division.

In 1986, Dr. Stewart founded the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel. In 2003, he received the Panel’s first “Thomas Stewart Founder’s Award,” which is awarded annually.
Dr. Stewart has spent the last 40 years studying various aspects of pressure ulcer
pathophysiology, wound healing, support surface design, and thermal physiology. He has been invited to speak on these topics both nationally and internationally.
He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, a book chapter on Support
Surfaces, and holds various patents for the therapeutic control of patient temperature. He is
presently an Editorial Board member for the International Wound Journal, an Editorial Board
member, and a past Dept Editor for WOUNDS.
He is a Lifetime Achievement Awardee from the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (2008), a past member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the School of Engineering at SUNY at Buffalo, an appointee by NY State's Governor to the Board of the Roswell Park
Comprehensive Cancer Institute(2009-16), and the Immediate Past Chair of the Daemen
University Board of Trustees(2016-2019).
