Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council (PAWSIC) Privacy Policy

For the Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council (also referred to as “PAWSIC,” “us,” “we” or “our”) and its Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), your privacy is important to us, and we take important steps to protect the privacy and security of your information. 

This Website Privacy Policy (“Policy”) will tell you about the kinds of personal information and other data we may collect from you via www.pawsic.org and other PAWSIC and SIG operated websites where this Policy is made available (the "Sites"), how such information is used, how it is shared, and choices you may have regarding the handling of your information. 

This Policy only applies to information we collect from you through the Sites described above. Other websites or online services, including any social media platforms or other third-party services you use to interact with PAWSIC, may have their own privacy policies and you should consult those policies accordingly.

As used in this Policy, “Personal Information” generally includes any information that, alone or in combination with other data, is reasonably capable of identifying or being associated with you or another person. By using the Sites and providing Personal Information to us, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms of this Policy. This Policy is effective as of April 10th, 2023.

Policy Changes: PAWSIC and its SIGs may modify this Policy and the terms and conditions concerning the use of the Sites at any time and will post any such modifications on this page. Your continued use of the Sites after any changes are made to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If any of the changes are unacceptable to you, you should cease using the Sites.

Information Gathering: Depending on how you interact with PAWSIC and its SIGs, there are areas of the Sites where you may voluntarily provide Personal Information, or certain other data (which generally does not include Personal Information) may be collected from you in an automated manner via PAWSIC’s Sites as described in the “Cookies or other Tracking Technology” section, below. 

For example, Personal Information such as your name, address, email address, phone number, and any other Personal Information or other data you voluntarily provide through the Sites may be collected from you when you:

• access the site through a secure portal
• contact PAWSIC or its SIGs with questions, comments or other communications;
• include such data as part of any content or information you make available to PAWSIC or its SIGs;
• sign up to receive newsletters and other correspondence or materials about PAWSIC, its SIGs, the Sites, and our services;
• submit any Personal Information or other data through forms on the Sites that include      admission inquiries, online giving forms, or the enrolled family directory; and/or
• otherwise provide any information to us voluntarily through the Sites or related PAWSIC      or SIG services. 

Donor Information Collection and Use: ​In addition, whenever you make a gift using the Sites, Personal Information and other data may be requested on a form. The information requested includes name, address, and payment or financial information, such as a credit card number and expiration date. This information is used to obtain payment from the appropriate clearinghouse. The details of your gift, including your name and mailing address, will be entered into our donor database. 

Cookies and other Tracking Technology: PAWSIC, its SIGs, or our service providers (e.g., Google Analytics) also may automatically collect certain data as you use the Sites and navigate elsewhere online, such as your IP address and other data about your internet connection, your operating system, browser type, and any devices or technology you use to access the Sites, as well as usage data about your interaction with the Sites. This automatically collected data generally does not identify any specific individual, but we will treat such data as Personal Information. The automatic collection of data described above is accomplished through the use of files and other technology which are transmitted to your computer or device as you browse our Sites. This technology is commonly referred to as “cookies.” You may be able to disable cookies by consulting your browser and/or computer settings. Please note that any disabling of cookies could affect how the Sites appear or operate for you. 

Use of Information: The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council, including but not limited to its Communications Department and its SIGs, use the Personal Information and other data gathered as described above to comply with a legal or regulatory obligations, to process communications and transactions, in performance of a contract, or for our other legitimate interests in providing the Sites and our related services. For example, PAWSIC or its SIGs may use your Personal Information and other data to:

• process donations and other payments initiated through the Sites;
• maintain proper records related to the operation of the Sites, The Council and our other      services;
• respond to your  questions, comments or other messages;
• send you content and communications about The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs
• contact you if there are issues with any content or information you may have transmitted      using the Sites;
• provide ongoing technical support related to the Sites;
• tailor content on the Sites to user needs;
• communicate with you regarding additional uses of your Personal Information beyond the      scope of this Policy;
• monitor the usage of the Sites; and/or 
• generate aggregate statistical reports.

By providing to The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs, the Personal Information and other data referenced above, you agree that we may use the Personal Information and other data in accordance with the terms of this Policy.

Sharing of Information: PAWSIC and its SIGs will not disclose or sell Personal Information to unaffiliated third parties, unless stated otherwise in this Policy. PAWSIC and its SIGs reserve the right to disclose Personal Information to appropriate third parties if required to do so by law or if the administration deems that such action is necessary. 

Personal Information may be transferred in the event there is a change in the ownership of CHS. If this occurs, PAWSIC and its SIGs will make reasonable efforts to cause any successor to agree to abide by the terms of this Policy.

Choices: If you would like to request the ability to access, review, or edit any Personal Information that PAWSIC and its SIGs may have collected about you, or opt-out of receiving further information from PAWSIC and its SIGs (subject to any applicable legal exceptions), please contact us using the information at the end of this Policy. PAWSIC and its SIGs may refuse any request made regarding collected Personal Information if it is unable to verify the identity of the person making the request or if it cannot authenticate the legitimacy of the request using reasonable efforts.

Security: The Sites have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat any security measures and improperly collect, access, steal or modify your information. If you are concerned about sending information to us over the internet, please send the information by mail or call us to make other arrangements. The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs are not responsible for the security of information sent online.

Copyright Information: The Sites and any related proprietary materials are owned and/or operated by The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs. The contents of the Sites, including (but not limited to) all written material, images, photos, code, and design are protected under international copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, republish, transmit or distribute any material from the Sites without express written permission.

All efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of the information presented on the Sites. The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs reserve the right, however, to make changes at its discretion affecting policies, fees, curricula or other matters announced on the Sites.

The Post-Acute Wound & Skin Integrity Council and its SIGs are not responsible for the quality, accuracy or appropriateness of content on other third-party sites or online services to which links have been provided on the Sites’ pages. Please consult the privacy policies of any third-party sites or services before using them to make sure you are comfortable with their privacy practices.
